OriginallyfromBaltimore,hemovedwithhisfamilytoSanFranciscowherehehasbeeninfluencedbytherichanddiversemusicscenetheBayAreahastooffer.MeldingtheinfluencesoftheSanFranciscostreetstylemusiciansandthoseofhisteachers,JoeDiorio,BuzzFeiten,andSmoothJazzmainstay,NormanBrownattheMusiciansInstituteinHollywood,Keithhasbeenabletodevelopasoundthatisuniquelyhisown.Loadedwithselfconfidence,training,andexperience,KeithhasmadehismarkwithSmoothJazzbygainingsignificantairplayonbothterrestrialandinternetradio.HehasalsoperformedlivewithnumerousNorthernCaliforniabasedbands,suchasthepopularWorldJazzFusionbandManaHumana,aswellasshowcasinghisdiversityduringastintwiththeSouthAfricanband,ZuluSpear,SoundMinds,andothers.Mostrecently,KeithsatinwithSmoothJazzrisingstar,MarcusAnderson,atHumphrey’sBackstageinSanDiego.PlayingwiththeseuniqueensemblesisexactlywhatmakesAndrewdifferent.FromWorldmusic,Jazz,toBlues–KeithAndrewisatalentedandeclecticcomposerandperformerwhohaskickedinstrumentalmusicintohighgear. OnStage KeithcofoundedandcocomposedfortheLAbasedJazz/R&BbandHimalaya,whichbecameastapleoftheLosAngelesmusicsceneintheearly1990s.KeithhadthehonorofsharingthestagewithstarssuchasNajeeandPiecesofaDream.Himalaya,whomKeithonoccasionallystillperformswithtothisday,hasbeenatthecoreofmanyofKeith’srecordingsandliveperformanceprojects,butmorerecentlyhehasbeenfocusingonhisowngroup–TheKeithAndrewBandwhichhasbeenperformingatfestivalsandclubsintheBayarea.Hehasaunique,excitingsoundthatgetsdowninyoursoul,fromyourhearttothesolesofyourfeet,andmakesyouwanttostandupanddance–regardlessofage.Keithsays,“GrowingupandlivingmostofmyadultlifeintheBayAreawasgreatformymusicaldevelopmentbecauseIwasexposedtosomuchworldmusic,eclecticjazzandhavegottentobepartofthearea’sbigjambandscene.Nowinmysolowork,I’mincorporatingallthatbutalsorealizingthatbluesistherootofitall.”Andthat’swhyTheKeithAndrewBandisinsuchhighdemand.
